Butyl glycol (2-butoxyethanol) is a colorless liquid with a faint ethereal odor. It has low viscosity, high solubility in water and organic solvents. It is a universal solvent widely used in the production of household chemicals due to its ability to effectively dissolve fats, oils and other contaminants.

Chemical formula: C6H14O2

Butyl glycol is obtained by esterification of butanol and ethylene oxide.

APPLICATIONS

– Solvent in detergents: Used in products for removing grease and dirt from surfaces. Effective in glass, kitchen surfaces, and hood cleaners.

– Active ingredient in cleaning products: Provides deep penetration into dirt for effective cleaning. Helps dissolve difficult stains, including oil and protein.
