PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Hexane is an organic chemical compound from the alkane class, which is a colorless, volatile liquid with a characteristic odor. It is freely soluble in organic solvents such as gasoline, ethanol, ethers, but poorly soluble in water. Hexane has low toxicity, but requires careful use due to its ability to form explosive mixtures with air.

Chemical formula: C6H14

Physical properties:

Molecular mass: 86.18 g/mol
Boiling point: 68.7 °C
Solubility: poorly soluble in water, soluble in organic solvents.

APPLICATIONS

– Food industry: Hexane is not generally used directly in food products, but has a number of important applications in manufacturing processes related to the processing of raw materials and the manufacture of food products.

– Oil extraction: Hexane is the main solvent in the process of extracting oil from seeds and grains (sunflower, soybean, peanut, corn, etc.). Hexane allows for the efficient separation of oil from vegetable raw materials, after which it is removed through distillation.

– Purification and refining: Hexane is used for the purification and refining of oils to remove unwanted impurities and solvent residues after the extraction process.
Food additive production: In some cases, hexane is used as a solvent for the synthesis of food additives such as vitamins and flavors.
